Genealogy
While walking through the Waters Farm main house, visitors will find themselves being watched over by portraits: Nathan, strong and handsome; Dorothea as a young woman with beautifully coiffed hair; Grandmother Ulva in her lovely blouse and pearls. The rooms are filled with the treasures and everyday objects accumulated through six generations of one family living in the same house. Each of those objects and portraits has a story to tell. The Waters family members were accomplished musicians, legislators, inventors, advocates for human rights, well-educated and respected. They were farmers, housewives, storekeepers, soldiers, and peddlers, and the fabric of their lives is woven throughout the story of the Blackstone Valley.
